My initial reaction upon hearing the band's name of Perfect Pussy was a combination of a sigh and a tut before cringing at how prematurely prudishly middle-aged I have become.

   My initial reaction upon hearing the New York five-piece's music was, however, something altogether different. A raucous and youthful energy led by a ferociously melancholy (Cap'n Jazz-esque) jangle/fuzz guitar-line caused something in my knees to buckle - it's a timely reminder of how beautiful music can actually be, how muscular and tender too.

   Exploding with the vividity of a firework, "I" is a wonderful, soaring sonic blast showcasing the limitless potential of a band formed only in 2012. Set to become one of my most played tracks of 2014.


   As a footnote, my final reaction to Perfect Pussy:  Having decided to include them as my choice of band for Music Monday, I realised that the band name may have a wee effect on my SEO, bringing in more of the kind of people who already visit my site through lurid terms. My reaction was a tut and a sigh once more.
